Justice S N Jha joined bar in 15.07.1969 and was elevated as a judge of the Patna High Court in 1990. He was elevated as the 23rd Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High court in 2004 and then appointed the Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court in 2005, from where he retired on 15.06.2007. Upon his retirement, Justice Jha was appointed as the President of Customs Excise and Service Tax Appellate Tribunal. He resigned from the post in service of humanity and joined as the founder chairperson of the Bihar State Human Rights Commission from where he has retired in 2014. He has been practicing in the Supreme Court of India since. He has been appointed as an arbitrator/ Court Commissioner in many cases.
